Periyo is an app designed to get people talking — to find that common connection you'd otherwise never know was there. It's proximity-based: it tells you when someone nearby — a person or a business — actually has something real in common with you, instead of just showing you everyone within range. You choose what to share and when to share it. Periyo matches you on it, and you decide who to talk to.

It can be, but that's not all it is. Periyo also helps you find friends, professional contacts, and local businesses. Relationship status and dating preferences are optional — you turn them on only if you want that kind of match, and they're never the only reason two people match.

When you're broadcasting and someone nearby is too, Periyo compares what you've each chosen to share and looks for real overlap — a hometown, an interest, a hobby, a shared trait. The rarer the overlap, the stronger the match. You only ever see the specific things you both actually have in common, never someone's full profile.

No. Periyo only ever works by proximity — it never shows your exact address to anyone. "Locate," which points a connection toward you with a direction and distance, is off by default and only works between two people who've already connected. You turn it on yourself, and you can turn it off again anytime.

Broadcasting is what makes you discoverable. You can build up to three profiles — Personal, Professional, and Other — but only broadcast one at a time (or more with certain plans). Every field in a profile has its own visibility toggle, so turning a profile on doesn't automatically reveal everything in it — you control exactly what's shown, field by field.

Yes. Each profile has its own scheduler where you set a start and end time for broadcasting. That way you're covered even when you're not actively using the app — you won't miss an unexpected connection.

Yes. A Professional profile can broadcast to everyone nearby, not just people with something else in common — useful for a business owner who wants maximum visibility. If someone nearby is looking for exactly what you offer, they get a private notification, and you never learn who was connected to you until they choose to reach out.

Periyo is free to use. Periyo Plus ($3.99/mo or $37.99/yr) unlocks dating-specific features like gender and orientation preferences. Periyo Pro ($7.99/mo or $74.99/yr) removes ads, unlocks a third active profile, and unlocks Broadcast to Everyone for your Professional profile. Periyo Stacked ($10.99/mo or $99.99/yr) includes everything in both, for less than buying them separately. Yes. You can block, mute, or report anyone at any time from your Security settings. Blocking is immediate and mutual — a blocked person can no longer see or match with you, and you won't see them either.

No. Periyo doesn't sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what's collected and how it's used.

Periyo doesn't require an account, but without one a new phone starts you over with an empty profile. To keep your profile, matches, chats, and Plus or Pro, open Settings, tap Back Up My Account, and add an email and password. On your new phone, tap "Already have an account? Restore" on the welcome screen and sign in.

You can delete everything yourself in the app: go to Settings, tap Back Up My Account, then tap Delete my account and data. You can also email us from any address and let us know you'd like your data deleted, along with any identifying details (the name(s) on your profile, roughly when you used the app, and your device). You must be at least 18 years old to create a profile or use Periyo.

Periyo is available now on Google Play for Android. An iPhone version is planned next; leave your email on the homepage and we'll notify you the moment iOS is available.
